Description

Taper Point PDS™ II Absorbable Suture, 2-0, Violet, 1" x 36", with a 40 mm 1/2 Circle CT needle, is a monofilament synthetic suture composed of polydioxanone. It is designed for prolonged wound support and gradual absorption, making it ideal for internal soft tissue approximation where extended tensile strength is required. The violet color enhances visibility during placement without altering tissue response.

This suture incorporates a taper point needle that ensures smooth penetration and reduces the risk of tissue tearing. The 1/2 circle curvature and 40 mm size allow for controlled maneuvering through deeper or curved anatomical sites. The monofilament design minimizes drag and potential bacterial harboring compared to braided sutures.

The absorption of PDS™ II occurs via hydrolysis, with complete mass absorption between 183 and 238 days. Its low tissue reactivity and predictable degradation profile make it suitable for fascia, abdominal wall closure, orthopedics, and other high-stress internal applications.
